With all of the special loan programs available to Minneapolis residents right now it is a great time to be thinking about home improvement.

It is fun to think about using that money to do something exciting — like buying a hot tub or a swimming pool, but then there is that nagging voice in the back of your mind telling you to “buy something practical.” How about something that will improve the quality of the water that you use every day in your home? Why not consider a new water softener?

With a new water softener from Peterson Salt and Water Treatment, you will double the life of your hot water heater and your dishes will be so much cleaner! You may not have a pool of your own, but the amount of time you will save scrubbing that nasty white hard water gunk off of your dishes will give you more time to spend in the community pool or lounging on the beach.

With many of these Minneapolis loan programs, almost any home project will qualify for funding. Special neighborhood revitalization programs through the Center for Energy and Environment (CEE) provide low-interest loans for projects of up to $10,000. CEE loans are available to residents in many cities including North Minneapolis, Robbinsdale and Brooklyn Center. To see if your project qualifies, visit their website for more details.

If you live in Robbinsdale, you may also qualify for a cash rebate through the Robbinsdale Rehab and Incentive Program. For projects up to $3,000 you can earn a rebate of up to 15 percent of the project cost.
